Bolton 1 Birmingham 0: Will Buckley strikes late to leave Garry Monk's Brum searching for first Cham

PHIL PARKINSON’S Bolton are in dreamland with a place at the top table in the Championship.

Wanderers were minutes from relegation at the end of last season.

But two wins and a draw this time around has put Bolton level with the league’s elite.

Wednesday’s victory puts them a joint-leaders alongside Leeds and Middlesbrough with only goal difference putting the two big boys ahead of them in the standings.

The Trotters had to play second fiddle here before sub Sammy Ameobi came up with a 73rd-minute cross that was bundled home by Will Buckley to see of Birmingham.

The cross went in off a couple of bodies, with Buckley claiming the final touch as the ball squirted past keeper Lee Camp.

It was a messy way to settle a scrappy match.

And it means Garry Monk’s men have now gone FOUR games without scoring.

But City will not come much closer.

Trotters keeper Ben  Alnwick denied Jota twice and Omar Bogle, while Kristian Pedersen almost scored an own goal.
